Available only through this web site is Walter Gresham's
17 X 22 inch print of The Wright Brothers Memorial with Startrails.
This stunning image is the result of a 5 1/2 hour time exposure. The equipment used was a 4 X 5 inch Crown Graphic camera with a 135mm f/4.7 Schneider lens, which is standard for that format. The film was Kodak Ektachrome 64 ASA for daylight exposures. An overall greenish cast is result of artificial light from distant street and car lights over the whole exposure time. Sometime during the night a small plane took off from Manteo Airport and headed north. The flashing beacon light traced a red line on the film starting on the right just below the monument.
